First Friday Artist ~ Woodland, CA Mother Daughter Portraits

9/05/2017 01:34:00 PM

I love mother-daughter sessions and this one was extra special. Carissa and her lovely little one, Amariah, stopped by for some photos. As you can see, they have a close, loving relationship and are quite adorable together. (Though we must say Carissa makes an impact in her solo photos as well!)

Carissa is a local author. Her book is called The Coffee Shop and is loosely based on events in her life. She says that each character in her book has a little bit of her personality. The story is about one woman's journey to find herself. It is written to appeal to any generation and has received great reviews. You should read it if you get a chance.

I found her story so intriguing that I invited Carissa to join our October First Friday event and perform readings throughout the night. Also performing will be Heather Evans, an excellent local musician (http://www.heatherevansmusic.com/). Both ladies are worth listening to, so come on by the studio on October 6 for some light refreshments and empowerment.

Carissa is a sponsor for our self love/self acceptance campaign. I believe it is important for teens and others, especially young women, to accept and celebrate who they are. Let's not let society and social media dictate who we should be and how we should look! Carissa is a great example for teens and we will be posting some of her thoughts and events throughout the year.
