CASA Event ~ Winters, California Event Photographer

It was a privilege last Sunday, September 11th, to photograph an event at the well known event venue Park Winters in Winters, California. It was the night for Yolo County CASA's "I Am For The Child" Dinner and Auction fundraising event.

Because they explain it the best, here is some basic information about the CASA program from their website.

The CASA program (Court Appointed Special Advocate) specially trains and supervises community volunteers, appointed by the judge. CASAs make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children by working with the parties and monitoring cases involving children in foster care.

CASAs usually advocate for only one or two cases at a time, allowing ample time to gather thorough information. They build relationships with their "CASA" kids, spending time with them, gathering facts about their life so they can report back to the judge who can then make a much better decision as to what is best for the child.

Children presently average more than three years in the limbo of foster care, with their futures unresolved and uncertain. The judge, with as little as ten minutes to determine a child's fate, is facing increasingly complex cases, limited support services, and disjointed, insufficient or outdated information on which to make sound decisions.

This program is crucial in helping the community's foster kids.
The event began with cocktails, appetizers and a silent auction. The silent auction included amazing  artwork and handmade jewelry from local artists. A delicious Park Winters dinner was then served. It started off with an amazing Caprese Salad with locally resourced vegetables.  The entree was my favorite, it included Grilled Snake River Hanger Steak, squash planks, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, haricot verts and compound butter. The steak was so tender that you could cut it with a fork. We ended the night with amazing desserts provided by Ciarlo Fruit and Nut Company including Flourless Olive Oil Chocolate Cake, Lemon Olive Oil Cake and a Plum Olive Oil Cake. After dinner, the Benefit Auction Specialist, Keith McLane, started the live auction.  Keith continued to remind the crowd of supporters that we were there for the kids. Some of the live auction items included Date Night Packages with top notch restaurants in the area and a stay at the Park Winters B and B, becoming a main character in bestselling author John Lescroart's novel scheduled to be released in 2018, and a week "Under the Tuscan Sun" in Cortona, Italy, along with many many more amazing items.

What a beautiful event!  I recommend checking out Park Winters for your next event. And I applaud the supporters who were there to help out such a great program.

Thank you to all the vendors who made this possible:
