I was recently pleased to be able to provide senior portraits to a delightful young woman who would not normally be able to afford them.
Every year I volunteer my professional time to find a graduating senior and spend time with them at two locations to take images of them for their personal use during their senior year. They have the ability to view and choose their favorites on an online viewing site. We also receive a cash donation every year to be able to give them the prints they would like to have.
This is usually my favorite gig of the year. All of these kids are bright, friendly, and smart. Just because circumstances out of their control have placed them in the foster system that does not always allow them the privilege of affording the typical senior perks, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to have some of them!
I challenge my fellow photographers to help these kids out. We have worked with our county CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program the last few years to offer our services. And a big shout out to CASA and the great work they do!
