Holiday Mini-Session ~ Woodland, California Photographer

The ants go marching one by one hurrah, hurrah! Kelly Lynn Jordan Photography met up with the Garvey family on December 5th at the Sugarland Horse Park for their KLJP Holiday Mini-Session.
Whenever KLJP goes to a photography session, there's always a sense of prepared tension; you know what you are planning to do, you've done this for years, and you want this to be the best possible shoot that it can for the clients. The first ingredient we at Kelly Lynn Jordan Photography always apply to the shoot before arrival is a bit of prayer, and the rest of the shoot is up to our combined years of experience, the whims of emotion everyone seems to be experiencing at the time, or how tired someone is (we've got Photoshop so don't worry about the eye bags). It really has to be the perfect storm, but it always seems to turn out for the best every single time.
At this particular session, there was one particular person, who will remain unknown, who seemed to have lock-jaw, and therefore would not smile. There's nothing wrong with this, and we all have our own individual personalities, but when you have one family member with a stern face while every one else is smiling ear to ear, the photographs suddenly become candidates for "Awkward Family Photos", which is not at all the goal of a family portrait, unless it is, let us know and we can set something up that will be the picture of the century.
We quickly went into action playing games on the sidelines and getting the family involved in making each other laugh. Everyone has joy inside of them that sometimes needs a little coaxing to come forth. It's a good reminder that you never know what someone is going through, where they are, or how they feel, so treat everyone good regardless of how they treat you.
After about 15 minutes of patience and warm-up game time, the lock-jaw dissapeared and this particular client became one of the best photo-takers at the portrait photography session (you won't be able to figure out who it was from these preview photos).
The Garvey was so much fun to work with, and we at Kelly Lynn Jordan Photography hope to be the go-to portrait photographers for your family on into the future. We look forward to continuing to get to know your family, and enjoy your preview!
